May 1: Open house retirement party for Mary Baker

Please join us for an Open House Retirement Party for Mary Baker on Wednesday, May 1, from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. in the Lobby of the Education Building.

Mary Baker was appointed as UND faculty in 2004 and has dynamically served for 15 years. She has made sustained and significant contributions to UND though her years of University service in Senate, Senate Curriculum Committee, Chester Fritz Library Master Planning, Essential Studies, and HLC Self-study committee. Her commitment to the College is equally impressive, as she has served in the roles of Tenure and Promotion committee member, Graduate Director, Undergraduate Assessment committee, and Department Chair.

She has graduated 36 doctoral students (7 Chaired, 29 member) and is highly regarded by the faculty in doctoral education for her invaluable mentorship. Her work as the PI on the ND-EPSCoR project and V-STEM grant has been the catalyst for the development of STEM work in her department. Her 15 refereed publications have focused on Math education and Technology in higher education.

Dr. Baker’s service to the State of North Dakota is best represented in her commitment to actively serve and lead on the North Dakota Council of Teachers of Mathematics, since 2005. While she has served in a myriad of roles, most impressively she was the Higher Education Representative and President.  These examples, while not exhaustive of her full record, highlight the continued and substantial contributions Mary Baker has made to UND.
