Path to a Patent webinars will be hosted by Chester Fritz Library Jan. 24 and Feb. 7

The Chester Fritz Library and the UND Center for Innovation are hosting a viewing site for the Rocky Mountain United States Patent and Trademark Office’s module, The Path to a Patent. The webinar contains two parts on the following dates:

  • Part I: The patent application process- Friday, Jan. 24, from 2 – 3 p.m.
  • Part II: Patent searching- Friday, Feb. 7, from 2 – 3 p.m.

Part I of the webinar will feature an overview of the different types of intellectual property and the patenting process. In addition, the USPTO will also cover the requirements for patentability, how to decide between a provisional and non-provisional application, and the implications of hiring a patent attorney. Part II of the webinar will focus on patent searching in the Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) system and how to build a search strategy.

Both sessions of the webinar will be hosted at the Chester Fritz Library in room 217d located at 3051 University Avenue, Grand Forks. Please register for each part at the respective links below:
