Feng “Frank” Xiao and group published in American Chemical Society Journal

Civil Engineering Assistant Professor Feng “Frank” Xiao teamed up with Civil Engineering graduate students Bosen Jin and Swetha Mallula and collaborators (Drs. Mikhail Golovko and Svetlana Golovko in UND Biomedical Sciences and Dr. Baoshan Xing at UMass Amherst) to publish “Sorption and Desorption Mechanisms of Cationic and Zwitterionic Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances in Natural Soils: Thermodynamics and Hysteresis” in Environmental Science & Technology, 53 (2019) pg. 11818-11827.

This study investigated sorption and desorption mechanisms (thermodynamics, hysteresis) of a group of environmental contaminants to natural soils, and determined free energies of relevant sorption driving forces. The paper can be viewed at the following link: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.est.9b05379.

With an impact factor of 7.149, Environmental Science & Technology is generally recognized as the top journal in the area of environmental engineering and science.
