The annual “Wake Up to UND” event, set for Sept. 29, will offer an opportunity to hear a conversation between new UND President Andy Armacost and new Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski.
A collaboration between the Greater Grand Forks Chamber and UND, the theme of the event is “New Faces. New Places,” and the centerpiece will be a conversation about collaboration and cooperation to benefit both communities.
Held via livestream at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, it will also be carried on the UND web page and FaceBook Live. There is no charge or audience limit.
“Our goal is to give viewers an opportunity to see Mayor Bochenski and President Armacost in conversation about topics important to UND and Grand Forks,” said Fred Wittmann, UND director of ceremonies and University events. “They, and we, believe that by working together, UND and Grand Forks can make our communities better for all of us.”
Wittmann said possible topics include the new building for the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration, the public-private partnership resulting in the construction of UND’s new, energy-efficient Steam Plant, and points of pride.
The live program will be introduced by Paula Anderson, chair of The Chamber board, and hosted by Meloney Linder, vice president for marketing & communications at UND. The program will also include some videos and a few surprises.
“Since we can’t gather in person for breakfast, we built in some elements that we hope people will enjoy,” Wittmann said. “It will be fun to watch.”
