UND will offer BinaxNOW rapid testing for COVID-19 from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at Wilkerson Commons in Room 175. To schedule your BinaxNOW test and avoid lengthy wait times please reserve your time to test.
Pre-registration at testreg.nd.gov is recommended. If individuals have registered in the past, they don’t need to register again.
PCR testing for COVID-19, which has been used throughout the fall semester, will continue to be offered at the UND High Performance Center. Testing times and dates are available here. PCR testing, considered the “gold standard,” is highly accurate and may take 48 hours or longer to receive the results.
BinaxNOW is an antigen (rapid) test for COVID-19 that is encouraged for screening of students, faculty and staff. BinaxNOW is a “point of care” test with results available in approximately 15 minutes. The sensitivity of antigen tests varies but is generally lower than PCR testing. The antigen level in specimens collected either before symptom onset, or late in the course of infection, may be below the limit of detection of the virus, resulting in a false negative test, as compared to a PCR test. Rapid tests are not a replacement for traditional PCR testing.
Students testing will receive a voucher for a local business. They will also receive new face coverings during this event.
