UND’s hematology and medical oncology fellowship receives initial accreditation

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education has granted initial accreditation to UND’s Fargo-based Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship, effective Jan. 22, 2021. Program Director Dr. Matthew Tinguely received word of the initial accreditation this week.

The accreditation allows Tinguely and his largely Sanford Health-based team to accept up to six total fellows (two per year for a three-year fellowship). The fellowship team anticipates a site visit from the accrediting body in Jan. 2023.

“We are looking forward to accepting our first fellows in the summer of 2022,” noted Tinguely. “Our fellows will spend the majority of their time at Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo and also rotate for one month at the University of Minnesota’s Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis to see bone marrow transplant patients. Although we are a new program, our faculty already has extensive experience in teaching residents and medical students for the UND medical students and residency programs.”
