UND Information Technology has deployed new software to help secure sensitive data

The University Information Technology (UIT) department recently deployed a new software to UND-owned computers to help users properly secure or dispose of sensitive data. Spirion is a sensitive information discovery and data loss prevention software that helps users locate sensitive data that may not be easy to find, such as Social Security and credit card numbers contained in the devices. Spirion is Available for Use by UND Faculty and Staff. Our goal is to reduce the risk of data compromise by reducing the sensitive data digital footprint. UIT will not run scans unless requested. Individual users will run scans on their own devices. Once a scan is run and if sensitive information is found, users will be prompted to secure or dispose of sensitive data on their systems.
