Please join us at this year’s Constitution Day Celebration featuring Noel Augustyn, former chief of staff to the late Chief Justice Rehnquist, Supreme Court of the United States, as he presents “Judges Gone Wild; Bad Behavior and Bad Decisions in our Article III Courts,” Friday, Sept. 17, from 12:10 to 1 p.m. in the VandeWalle Courtroom, UND School of Law and via Zoom.
The presentation will address “bad behavior” by judges (e.g., bribes and sexual misconduct) during the time Augustyn served at the Court and the administrative office of the United States courts. Information regarding the Association of American Law Schools and the Judicial Conference of the United States will also be presented. The “bad decisions” discussed in the presentation will include the Dred Scott decision and Roe v. Wade, two decision that have seriously divided the United States.
The event is sponsored by the UND Law Federalist Society.
About Constitution Day
The annual Constitution Day celebration recognizes the ratification of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. The 2004 law establishing the holiday was part of a congressional bill mandating that all publicly funded educational institutions provide educational programming on the history of the American Constitution on that day.
