Nearly 930 new graduates will be eligible to cross the stage in three commencement ceremonies at the University of North Dakota on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 19 and 20.

This will be the first commencement ceremony at which Interim President Joshua Wynne will officiate. He will also give remarks.

The first ceremony, for graduate, medicine and law students, is set for 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Chester Fritz Auditorium. Two ceremonies will be held Friday, also in the Chester Fritz Auditorium, for undergraduate students. The first is at 1 p.m. for undergraduates in the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Engineering & Mines and Nursing & Professional Disciplines, as well as the School of Medicine & Health Sciences. The second ceremony, at 4 p.m. is for Aerospace Sciences and the Colleges of Business & Public Administration and Education & Human Development.

The ceremonies are each expected to last about an hour and 15 minutes. There is no charge for parking at the Chester Fritz Auditorium, and on Friday, Dec. 20, parking enforcement across campus will be restricted to safety issues (such as No Parking zones and parking for people with disabilities) only. In other words, a permit will not be required to park in most campus lots on Friday.

A total of 662 undergraduate students are eligible for Commencement, along with 236 graduate students, one M.D. student, and 11 law students. Seventeen students who earned their degrees earlier or will earn them soon will also walk across the stage.

Graduates and their families are also invited to attend a Winter Commencement Social from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Gorecki Alumni Center. They will have the opportunity to socialize, take photos with friends and families, and enjoy refreshments. There is no charge.
