Oh, what a decade: UND highlights from 2010s

New buildings, groundbreaking research, sports triumphs and memorable anniversaries mark some of the high points of the past 10 years

With the “teens” having trickled through the hourglass, looking back seems a fitting pursuit for the first days of the new year.

At the University of North Dakota, the 2010s brought change. Through leadership shifts, athletic controversies and an evolving higher-education landscape, the state’s flagship university forged a decade also marked by research excellence, major anniversaries, sports championships, campus renewal and strategic endeavors benefiting students, the state and region.

Many of the milestones of the past 10 years filled the print and digital pages produced by UND’s communications office, which itself has morphed and matured. To commemorate the 2010s, UND Today dug through its news archive. So, consider the below a snapshot of how the last decade unfolded on campus. And while there are many, many more UND moments that are not mentioned here, all the events —taken together — have helped build a solid foundation upon which the University can reach even higher in the 2020s.
