Winter Commencement 2021 in photos

More than 400 students crossed the stage in three ceremonies for UND’s 2021 Winter Commencement

Editor’s note: Back to an in-person format following the online ceremonies of 2020, with UND President Andy Armacost presiding, UND’s 2021 Winter Commencement featured addresses from Hal and Kathy Gershman — both of which are available to read as transcripts at UND Today.

Kathy Gershman, professor emerita of Educational Foundations & Research in UND’s College of Education & Human Development, spoke at Thursday’s graduate degree ceremony.

Hal Gershman, longtime Grand Forks business owner, civic leader and philanthropist, who graduated from UND in 1966 and received the Sioux Award in 2006, spoke at both of the Friday undergraduate ceremonies.

The events, viewable in their entirety on the UND Commencement page, also featured remarks from Casey Ryan and Jill Louters, chair and vice chair of the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education, respectively. DeAnna Carlson Zink, CEO of the UND Alumni Association & Foundation, offered her congratulations to hundreds of new alumni at all three ceremonies.

Highlights of the festivities, captured in photos as well as a video montage, can be seen below. All photos by Mike Hess/UND Today.
