Annual service trip to Guatemala provides life lessons for UND students

Thomasine Heitkamp, professor in the UND College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines, recently was awarded a five-year grant totaling $3.8 million from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It's a much-needed boost in funding, solidifying the University’s role as a regional focal point for the nationwide effort to combat drug abuse particularly that related to the overdose epidemic of opioids.
