Let’s stop the stigma today! It’s time to talk to your friends, daughters and mothers about cervical cancer. There are 132 million women in the United States over the age of 15 that are at risk of developing cervical cancer. Most cervical cancers are associated with the human papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted infection. Read more in January's Wellness Spotlight.

Congratulations to our Winter Wellness Challenge Grand Prize winners!

Does your mouse move more than you do?! Recent research has shown that people in the United States are becoming more sedentary. Doing exercise with a buddy/coworker makes exercise fun and easy to complete! Break up your sitting time and join Work Well in Wellness BINGO

There is a new Dakota Wellness Voucher process. Starting January 1, employees will upload their own completed vouchers into their StayWell account.  

As a benefited UND employee, you can earn up to 15,000 points by completing Work Well wellness events and challenges. Employees must upload their own vouchers to earn points and points must be used by December 31, 2021.

Sanford Health Plan invites you to learn more about the $250 wellness benefit and the three ways to earn this benefit in 2020 (online wellness portal, monthly fitness center reimbursement and the enhanced voucher program for onsite activities).

Diabetes can be prevented, but not cured. Take control of your health and start making positive lifestyle changes with the help of a trained lifestyle coach and fun, engaging support groups. Groups: NDSU Extension, Grand Forks Senior Center, Sanford Health Plan, YMCA & Altru.  Learn more about the National Diabetes Prevention Program from the CDC.

Wellness Education Opportunities: Sanford Health Plan offers several different ways for UND employees to learn about and try new behaviors that will lead them to a healthier lifestyle. Their educational offerings can help you gain the knowledge and confidence you need to thrive in all Dimensions of Wellness. Zen in 10 focuses on stretching, breathing and having fun with coworkers. Go back to work with less stress, more energy and better body functioning. Services provided by Kay Williams, Certified Yoga and Relax and Renew Instructor. FREE and open to the Campus! FLYER 

Membership Promotion! Jump start your wellness resolutions! Purchase a semester or annual membership at the Wellness Center between now and January 15 and pick your perk: Receive a FREE half-size locker rental OR Get a Group Exercise pass for only $15. Stop by the Front Desk to learn more.

The UND Rock Wall will be open to the Campus and public for climbing with No Membership required! Children of all ages (we have harnesses for toddlers/small children, fit not guaranteed) will be able to visit and climb the Rock Wall. Stop by and give it a try on Sunday, January 26 from 2 – 4 p.m. Cost $10/family.

Find a new favorite exercise! Join us for group exercise FREE week January 21-26 at the Wellness Center. Try out classes like cycling, yoga, or Zumba! Must be a member of the Wellness Center.

Happy Hour is a FREE Group Exercise class in the Wellness Center that gives you the chance to cycle, dance and strengthen your body. Try a new class for FREE at 8 p.m. Mondays.

Tis the ski-son! For the entire month of January, Cross Country Ski rentals are 50% off at The Outpost! Stop by the Wellness Center to gear up for winter adventures!

The UShine Award is presented monthly to a UND staff member who went above and beyond, with an annual award chosen each May!

UND faculty, staff, students and public are encouraged to nominate and recognize a UND Staff member who did something special or extraordinary to assist a colleague, supervisor, student or family.

Emergencies can happen anytime. Are you prepared?  UND Wellness & Health Promotion offers American Heart Association courses held right on campus to provide you with the critical training that you need for any emergency at home or at work. These courses are open to both UND affiliates and the general public. Our classes fill up quickly, so please register early to secure a spot.  Class schedule and offerings located here!

Grand Forks USDA Human Nutrition Research Center:
Participate in a research study!  USDA is looking for volunteers to participate in studies to improve their understanding of the health roles of food and physical activity.  Volunteers are essential partners in their research and are paid honoraria for their participation.

With Don’t Cancel Class, you have a variety of Health & Wellness topics/presentations to choose from and a member of our team will come cover your class!  To learn more about the presentations available and reserve a date!

Remember to take your annual LifeScore Health Assessment so you can receive your Fitness Center Reimbursement and be eligible to earn a $250 wellness benefit ($500 per household).
