Celebrating ND SBDC and SBDC Day on March 20th!

Happy National SBDC Day 2024! On March 20th, we join thousands of Small Business Development Centers and their staff across the nation in celebrating the vital support they provide to entrepreneurs in their journey to small business success.

The inaugural SBDC Day took place in 2017, marking a significant moment in recognizing the invaluable contributions of SBDCs nationwide. Subsequently, the House Committee on Small Business officially recognized the day in 2018.

Established in 1976, SBDCs offer innovative resources and tools crucial to the success of startups and small businesses. This day serves as a platform to showcase the impact of SBDCs through events and conferences across the country. From financial and business planning services, to technology, cybersecurity, and marketing, SBDCs play a crucial role in the success of small businesses.

Across the United States, 63 Small Business Development Center programs, hosted by leading universities, colleges, state economic development agencies and private partners, exist to support current and prospective small business owners. There’s at least one network in every state, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. The America’s Small Business Development Centers (ASBDC) network is comprised of nearly 1,000 service centers throughout the country advising clients on a wide variety of business development topics and sharing their extensive expertise.

Many people don’t realize that SBDCs provide so much more than start-up assistance for new small businesses. Existing small businesses looking to grow, consider exporting or contracting, or transition out of the business, can look to their SBDC for support in these stages of the business lifecycle as well.

Here at the North Dakota Small Business Development Centers (ND SBDC), we are proud to have been serving North Dakota for nearly 40 years! Since our inception in 1986, the University of North Dakota has served as the program host, dedicated to fostering small business growth and positive economic impacts in our state.

#DYK (Did you know) that in addition to the ND SBDC, UND and the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration also hosts the ND APEX Accelerator and VBOC of the Dakotas! Together we are a comprehensive ecosystem of support for small businesses.

On this SBDC Day, we recognize our clients, staff, advisory board members, investors, and community partners through a bounty of social posts throughout the day. Head to Facebook, Instagram, X, or LinkedIn and like, comment, and share to show your support for our program and our clients.

Most of all – thank you for being an integral part of the North Dakota Small Business Development Centers community! Together, we are forging a path towards a brighter future for small businesses in North Dakota.

When small businesses thrive, communities thrive. North Dakota thrives!
