CEHD Bids Farewell to Dean Cindy Juntunen

On July 24, UND hosted a farewell celebration at Archives Coffee House for Dr. Cindy Juntunen, outgoing dean of the College of Education and Human Development. President Andrew Armacost, Provost Eric Link, and faculty and staff of CEHD expressed their appreciation of her leadership, support, mentoring, and guidance during her nearly three-decade tenure at UND.

Dr. Juntunen is a North Dakota native and UND alumna who first joined UND in 1994 as an assistant professor in counseling. In the course of 29 years at UND, Dr. Juntunen has served as a department chair, an associate dean, and dean of CEHD (serving in this role since 2016). Dr. Juntunen has also served as director of the Center for Rural Education and Communities as well as acting director of the Northern Lights Behavioral Health Center. She is a Chester Fritz Distinguished Professor of Counseling Psychology and Community Services who has launched countless initiatives in support of UND faculty, staff, and students.

As reported by UND Today in June 2023, she will be departing the University of North Dakota later this month to begin a new post as the Associate Provost / Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at California State University, Monterey Bay.
