About this course

With rapidly increasing energy demand due to the increasing population and the renewed interest in reducing carbon emissions to limit the negative effect of global warming, it has become even more important to speedily advance global energy storage capabilities. This course will look at the various available and potential energy storage resources and their impact on the development and scaling of renewable energy technologies, the contributions of battery storage technologies in the expanded use of electric vehicles, how cost-effective are these energy storage technologies and their growing importance to the various energy systems. The primary outcome of this course will be to understand the complexities of grid-level and distributed energy storage systems with a focus on lithium-ion battery (LIB) technologies and their importance for electric utilities and electric vehicles.
