It is a moment for students to reflect on the responsibility, purpose and promise of the fields they are preparing to enter.<\/p>\n<p>This spring, UND students gathered with faculty, staff, family and friends to take part in the college\u2019s time-honored Ring Ceremony, which honors future engineers and scientists as they commit themselves to ethical practice, service and lifelong professionalism.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony itself also marked a special milestone: the 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Order of the Engineer on UND campus, a national tradition that invites engineers to publicly affirm their obligation to use their skills with integrity and for the benefit of society.<\/p>\n<p>The event opened with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/campus.und.edu\/directory\/andrew.armacost\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UND President Andrew Armacost<\/a><\/strong>, who delivered a motivational keynote on what engineering truly means \u2014 not only as a profession, but as a way of thinking, problem-solving and serving others.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/campus.und.edu\/directory\/ryan.s.adams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dean Ryan Adams<\/a><\/strong> also reflected on the significance of the ceremony and the college\u2019s pride in celebrating students as they prepare to take their next steps. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/campus.und.edu\/directory\/carson.running\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Carson Running<\/a><\/strong> spoke about the history and meaning of the Order of the Engineer, while <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/campus.und.edu\/directory\/emanuel.grant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Emanuel Grant<\/a><\/strong> explained the Oath of the Scientist and the shared responsibility carried by those entering technical and scientific careers.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the ceremony, students took their oaths, received their rings, posed for memorable photos and celebrated with the people who helped support their journey.
