The Chester Fritz Library is excited to now offer thousands of electronic books and audiobooks on Libby, the popular library app for your Android or iPhone. It’s the same app that you might already use with your public library account.
There are currently nearly 5000 books and 1000 audiobooks available for electronic checkout. These are books for fun reading–bestsellers, YA titles, personal development, and more. You can read electronic books in the app, on the web, or on a Kindle.
You can sign up with your UND account information, either through the Libby app or on this website. On the Libby app, you can search for the University of North Dakota, and it should show up as part of the North Dakota Academic Consortium–which is kind of an extra name, but it reflects how over a dozen North Dakota colleges and universities have come together to make this happen.
If you have any questions about signing up, or using the app, reach out to any of the librarians or Peer Research Consultants in the library or on chat.
We would also like to thank UND Student Government, for extending a generous grant to us to purchase more fun titles and audiobooks for the campus to enjoy.
Again, Libby works with both this new service from UND as well as many public libraries, including Grand Forks Public. If you already have a public library card in Libby, you can switch between it and the UND account within the app. If you’re a member of the campus community, and you haven’t signed up for a GFPL card, you should! They have even more resources, including thousands of magazines from around the world, available on Libby and available in their location on Washington just south of Grand Cities Mall. UND faculty, staff, and students are welcome to apply for a card even if their permanent address isn’t in Grand Forks County. You can sign up here if you have a Grand Forks address; otherwise, drop by GFPL for assistance.
