UND Sales Team Makes History at the Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition
By: Marissa Burian

The Nistler College of Business and Public Administration is celebrating a historic achievement after the UND Sales Team delivered an extraordinary performance at the Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition (NISC), held at Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Competing against more than 300 students and 40+ universities from across the country, UND not only excelled individually but also earned the overall championship title—a first in UND history.
A Standout Performance on the National Stage

Senior marketing and professional sales student and Sales team president, Whitney Mumm, captured an impressive 2nd place overall in the role-play competition, outperforming 300 peers in one of the nation’s most competitive collegiate sales events.
Whitney reflected on the moment saying, “This weekend was one of the most rewarding experiences of my time at UND. Placing 2nd out of 300 students was an incredible honor and a moment I will never forget. As President of the team, getting to watch our team grow and perform at this level was so incredible and is something I will cherish forever. I am so proud of each and every one of them.”
The entire UND team rose to the occasion:
-
Marcella George advanced all the way to the semifinals.
-
Jack Sandvig, in his very first semester on the team, powered his way to the quarterfinals and also advanced to the Speed Sell finals.
-
Ava Wayne and James Simle-Askew delivered strong performances in Round 1 and took charge of the team’s social media presence, earning UND a social media award for their creativity and engagement throughout the competition.
Behind every great team is a dedicated leader, and for UND, that leader is Robert Warren, Sales Team Advisor. His guidance and belief in his students continues to inspire the program’s growing success.

A Weekend to Remember
For the students, the experience was about more than competition—it was about growth, connection, and pride. The team left Rhode Island with new skills, new relationships, and a new place in UND history.
Speaking on the championship moment, Mumm said, “UND taking home the overall championship was an incredible way to top off the weekend. We went in with our heads high and just hoping for the best, but we walked out with more than we could have ever imagined. The growth we saw in each other, the experience we gained, and the support we had for one another is something we will carry with us forever. We are so grateful for Nistler for the opportunities and support they provide us with.”
Congratulations to the UND Sales Team for their remarkable performance and for representing the University of North Dakota with excellence, professionalism, and passion.
