INSPIRATIONAL COMPANIES NAVIGATING THE CRISIS: Eide Bailly takes action by developing virtual recruitment events for students.

During the ongoing pandemic, companies are looking for new ways to conduct business as well as recruit and retain employees. We look forward to sharing some of the stories about innovative approaches taken by members of the UND Nistler College of Business & Public Administration community.

Eide Bailly, a CPA and business advisory firm, has revised their spring on-campus recruiting efforts by developing virtual recruiting events with UND Nistler College of Business & Public Administration Accountancy students.

While the pandemic is forcing many businesses to pause their operations and layoff employees, Eide Bailly has successfully adapted to remote work and is even hosting a virtual recruiting event for UND Accountancy students. Carrie McTaggart, Campus Recruiter for Eide Bailly, was integral in developing a plan for Eide Bailly’s new virtual recruiting efforts. “We have taken the approach to try and make campus recruiting an all year effort,” says McTaggart. While fall is typically a strong focus for on-campus recruiting for accounting firms, Eide Bailly has worked to establish events throughout the year to continue building relationships with students. This spring the firm planned to host hospitality rooms on campus during finals week; offering students a pizza and soda break while continuing to promote the firm’s presence on campus.

As campuses made an abrupt shift to online instruction, McTaggart and her team began to brainstorm about how they could continue to connect with students. McTaggart wanted to offer an interactive way for student to engage with Eide Bailly. The team decided on a virtual trivia event which would help students learn a bit more about Eide Bailly and public accounting. McTaggart said that students have shared with her that they miss the breadth of engagement opportunities that campus communities create, and they are looking forward to the virtual trivia event as a way to reconnect. While this is nothing like Eide Bailly has done before, McTaggart says the need to host virtual events has opened their eyes to different options for recruitment efforts in the future. “Looking at these virtual events may be something we could do over the summer to interact with students and provide one more connection point,” says McTaggart.

Interested students can contact Carrie McTaggart at 701.476.8424 or cmctaggart@eidebailly.com by April 24 to receive an invitation to the Zoom meeting. The meeting/virtual trivia event will take place on Thursday, April 30 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CDT and offer opportunities to connect with Eide Bailly professionals, learn about career opportunities, play trivia and win prizes!

Thank you, Eide Bailly, for your innovation and leadership in creating virtual events to build community and enhance your UND recruiting efforts!
