SMIF students demonstrated strong investment strategy and analytical skills during the Fall 2025 FMA\/StockTrak Student Investing Challenge, a nationwide competition that challenged students to manage a simulated $1,000,000 portfolio in real-time market conditions.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Among more than 100 student participants from universities across the country, University of North Dakota student Kyle Drovdal earned first place overall, securing a $300 Amazon gift card and registration for the 2026 FMA Leadership Conference. In addition to Drovdal\u2019s top finish, Isabella Castillo and Alexis Heine also represented UND by placing within the top ten, further highlighting the depth of talent within UND\u2019s Student Managed Investment Fund.<\/p>\n

This strong showing reflects the hands-on learning and real-world application emphasized in the SMIF program, where students gain experience in portfolio management, market analysis, and investment decision-making. Competing at a national level against peers from institutions across the country, UND students showcased the skills and preparation developed through the Nistler College of Business.<\/p>\n
