Skills that put your students in demand

A UND liberal arts education can help your students develop the skills that will put them in demand in the workforce. Your students will learn how to work well with others within an ever-changing business environment, and in turn, make them more employable. These skills are different from technical skills, which are specifically required for a certain task: knowledge of software, how to pilot a plane, etc. At UND we focus on both sets of skills,  making your students well-rounded individuals that can work in a variety of different environments.

According to LinkedIn, these are the more in-demand skills recruiters look for this year:

  • Adaptability
  • Collaboration
  • Creativity
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Persuasion

Ladders stated these are the top skills for 2021:

  • Active listening
  • Adaptability
  • Communication
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Innovation
  • Teamwork
  • Work ethic

The pandemic has shown the importance of adaptability and collaboration to teams in the workplace. Teams had to learn how to communicate, collaborate and maintain creativity without the ability to meet in person or attend in-person events.

Technical skills are important to accomplish a task, but the work environment relies on these marketable skills. UND can teach your students these marketable skills that will put them in demand in the workforce, no matter where their education may lead them to.
