Skills that put your student in demand

A UND liberal arts education can help students develop the skills that will put them in demand in the workforce. They’ll learn how to work well with others within an ever-changing workplace environment, which will make them more employable.

These skills are different from technical skills, which are specifically required for a certain task: knowledge of software, how to pilot a plane, etc. At UND we focus on both sets of skills,  making students well-rounded individuals who can work in a variety of different environments.

According to LinkedIn, these are the more in-demand skills recruiters look for this year:

  • Adaptability
  • Communication
  • Critical thinking
  • Digital literacy
  • Time management

Ladders stated these are the top skills for 2022:

  • Communication
  • Team player
  • Flexible/adaptable
  • Leadership
  • Work ethic
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Positivity

Adaptability and collaboration are crucial to success in the workplace. Teams need to communicate, collaborate and maintain creativity no matter the situation.

Technical skills are important to accomplish a task, but the work environment relies on these marketable skills. UND will teach students these marketable skills that will put them in demand in the workforce, no matter where their education may lead them.
