Director’s Corner Wrap-Up

Happy May!

I want to take a moment to say THANK YOU for all you’ve done to help your students succeed this year! I hope your seniors take time to enjoy all those last moments of their high school career.

I want to bring a few things to your attention to make sure you’re aware of them as the school year comes to a close.

Orientation

Make students’ transition to UND seamless with the Orientation program. It includes an online advisement and registration process where students will work with an academic advisor to get registered for their classes in the fall. Make sure your students sign up right away to secure their fall schedule.

Then July (17, 18, 19, 22, 23 or 24) we’re hosting on-campus Orientation Days! These days are optional but help students familiarize themselves with campus, take care of any outstanding business and learn what to expect during their first year at UND.

FAFSA

In late March, UND started to receive some completed 2024-25 FAFSA applications for new incoming students from the U.S. Department of Education. After the FAFSA is received by the University, students will receive a confirmation email from UND. Once students receive the confirmation email from UND, they will be able to log into studentaid.gov to make any necessary corrections.

UND is still waiting for one additional step to be completed before we can send official award letters to students. Our goal is to send financial aid awards as soon as possible, and we’re estimating that we will start sending awards in mid to late May. We appreciate your patience.

Our financial aid guide provides an overview of our estimated timeline and the next steps once students receive their award notice from UND. We encourage you to review this guide now, so you have a fuller understanding of the financial aid process and know what to expect.

If your students have not yet applied for aid, we encourage them to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. UND’s school code is 003005.

We know that students and families may need financial aid information in order to confirm their enrollment at UND, so we have extended our priority deadline to June 1. We understand that the FAFSA delay is causing families extra stress, and we want to assure you that we’ll do everything we can to get you the information as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact One-Stop Student Services at 701.777.1234 onestop@UND.edu.

Housing

Thank you for your patience as we continue to address the high demand for campus housing for fall 2024 at the University of North Dakota.

Please know we are committed to accommodating all freshmen required to live on campus during their first year at UND. Our team is actively working to identify additional housing inventory for all incoming first-year students who do not yet have a housing assignment.

We plan to have housing assignments sent out on or before May 31, 2024. Our priority for assignments will be based on the original date of your housing application.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 701.777.4251 or housing@UND.edu.

Class of 2028 Yard Signs

We want to welcome you and your students to the Fighting Hawks family and help you celebrate your graduates’ recent achievements. Surprise your graduate and show your UND pride with a Class of 2028 yard sign or banner.

Purchase your signs from our official UND Bookstore or our other licensed vendor’s site. Our licensed vendors will be able to customize the sign with your student’s name and print the perfect size for your lawn, graduation party and photos!

If you post your photos on social media, remember to use the hashtag #UNDproud to be featured on our webpage.

We can’t wait to see your Fighting Hawks pride!

We look forward to seeing you on campus this fall!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Aamodt
