As a child who grew up in Mandan, ND, Cassandra was always experimenting in the garden planting different flowers, fruits and vegetables. “All these little moments in the garden just stuck with me,” said Cassandra. These “little moments” led her to her latest venture, Ginger Leaf Garden. This new business is a testament to her passion for creating high-quality, locally sourced products.

Ginger Leaf Garden began as a part-time pursuit for Cassandra, but it quickly grew into a thriving business. She offers a wide range of products, including starter plants, jams, sauces, pickles, salsas, and gift baskets. All products are made with locally sourced ingredients, and she takes great pride in the quality of her work.

Despite the challenges of starting a new business, like the loads of paperwork to ensure proper licensing and tax filings, Cassandra has remained focused and determined. “Luckily, there are many helpful resources out there that business owners can use to their advantage,” shared Cassandra. “I received assistance from the ND Women’s Business Center, as well as the Veterans Business Outreach Center”.

She has relied on her military training, which taught her the importance of discipline, hard work, and perseverance, to overcome obstacles along the way. She has also drawn on her strong sense of community, which has helped her build a loyal customer base.
