{"id":2779,"date":"2025-07-21T14:26:57","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T19:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/finance\/?p=2779"},"modified":"2025-07-21T14:27:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T19:27:12","slug":"reimbursement-rate-changes-effective-august-1st","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/finance\/2025\/07\/reimbursement-rate-changes-effective-august-1st\/","title":{"rendered":"Travel Reimbursement Rate Changes Effective August 1st"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">During this past legislative session, SB 2084 amended laws found in North Dakota Century Code (NDCC) related to the reimbursement of lodging and travel by state employees in two important ways. <b>These changes will be effective for travel occurring on or after August 1st, 2025.\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<ul data-editing-info=\"{&quot;applyListStyleFromLevel&quot;:true}\">\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">For IN-STATE LODGING: NDCC 44-08-04 will allow for 100% of the GSA\u00a0<span class=\"markwylsktjaw\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">rate<\/span> for North Dakota, plus any applicable state or local taxes, to be claimed.<\/div>\n<ul data-editing-info=\"{&quot;applyListStyleFromLevel&quot;:true}\">\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Under previous law only 90% of the GSA <span class=\"markwylsktjaw\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">rate<\/span>\u00a0could be claimed for in-state travel.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The GSA\u00a0<span class=\"markwylsktjaw\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">rate<\/span> for North Dakota is $110 through September 2025. GSA updates lodging <span class=\"markwylsktjaw\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">rate<\/span>s annually beginning October 1st.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">For REMOTE EMPLOYEES PERMANENTLY LOCATED OUTSIDE THE STATE*: NDCC 54-06-09 will now allow those employees to claim the full GSA <span class=\"markwylsktjaw\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">rate<\/span> per mile for personally-owned-vehicle (POV) <span class=\"markn6you25m6\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">mileage<\/span>.<\/div>\n<ul data-editing-info=\"{&quot;applyListStyleFromLevel&quot;:true}\">\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Under previous law those employees were limited by statute to a <span class=\"markwylsktjaw\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">rate<\/span>\u00a0of $0.45 per mile.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The GSA\u00a0<span class=\"markwylsktjaw\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">rate<\/span> for POV <span class=\"markn6you25m6\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">mileage<\/span>\u00a0is currently set at $0.70 per mile. GSA updates\u00a0<span class=\"markn6you25m6\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">mileage<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"markwylsktjaw\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">rate<\/span>s annually beginning January 1st.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>*<em>(or on assignment outside the state for an indefinite period exceeding at least 30 days) <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">These changes to NDCC do not preclude departments from setting more restrictive reimbursement <span class=\"markwylsktjaw\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">rate<\/span>s for travelers in accordance with UND Travel policy.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During this past legislative session, SB 2084 amended laws found in North Dakota Century Code (NDCC) related to the reimbursement of lodging and travel by state employees in two important ways.
