Q: Does the City of Grand Forks have flood protection?

A: Yes.  After the Flood of 1997 the cities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks worked together to build permanent flood protection.  The project is designed to protect the Grand Forks from a river level of 57 feet (the flood of 1997 reached a little over 54 feet).  The permanent flood protection was complete in 2007.  CLICK HERE for more facts about our flood protection.

Q: Is the Kennedy Bridge open?

A: Yes.  The Kennedy Bridge currently is open.

Q: Is the Point Bridge open?

A: Yes.  The Point Bridge currently is open.

Q: Is the Sorlie Bridge downtown open?

A: Yes.  The Sorlie Bridge on Demers Avenue currently is open.

Q: What is the current river level in Grand Forks?

A: There is a river gauge at the Sorlie Bridge in downtown Grand Forks.  The National Weather Service has a hydrograph available that is tracking the river at this location.  CLICK HERE to see the hydrograph.

Q: What should I do if the storm drain on my street isn’t draining?

A: The City of Grand Forks has crews that go around town and clear clogged/frozen storm drains.  Contact the Water Department at 701.746.2595 to inform crews of the blocked drain.
