Lucas Holkup to give Surgery Grand Rounds on bowel prep April 19

 

Lucas Holkup, MD, a PGY-III resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “Understanding Bowel Prep: in support of a progressive movement” at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019. All are welcome to attend.

The objectives of the talk are:

  • Recognize dosing schedule of colon prep before colonoscopy in relation to efficacy, patient acceptance, and tolerance
  • Apply patient characteristics in choosing appropriate bowel cleansing regimen
  • Use evidence-based management for preoperative colon cleaning prior to elective colon surgery
  • Explain the rationale of bowel preparation in elective colon surgery and colonoscopy
