Mary Aaland to give Surgery Grand Rounds on rural surgery Aug. 2
Mary Aaland, MD, FACS, director of the SMHS Rural Surgery Support Program and associate professor in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “Rural Surgery in the 21st Century” at the UND Medical Education Center Auditorium in Fargo from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, August 2. All are welcome to attend.
The objectives of Dr. Aaland’s talk are:
- Describe how the need for rural surgeons came about
- Explain the challenges facing rural surgeons
- Express the need to complete history and physical
- Recognize that rural surgery is not for everyone
