Lucas Holkup to give Surgery Grand Rounds on postoperative opioid prescribing Sept. 13

Lucas Holkup, MD, a PGY-IV resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “Postoperative opioid prescribing: Contribution to the opioid epidemic” at Sanford Medical Center Broadway in Fargo, N.D., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. All are welcome to attend.

The objectives of Dr. Holkup’s talk are:

  • Understand the history of how we arrived at the current state of the opioid crisis
  • Recognize patient risk factors for opioid misuse/abuse
  • Develop a personal sense of appropriate opioid prescribing regimens
  • Understand utilization of multimodal pain regimens
