Kristine Steffen presents Psychiatry Grand Rounds Sept. 18

Kristine Steffen, Pharm.D., Ph.D., professor in the NDSU Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and director of the Biomedical Research Center for Biobehavioral Research at Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D., will present “Alcohol & Opioid Use After Bariatric Surgery – Prevalence, Predictors, and Parallels” from 12:10 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at the UND Southeast Campus auditorium in Fargo.

Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:
• Review the existing literature on alcohol and opioid use following bariatric surgery.
• Describe the impact of bariatric surgical procedures on alcohol and opioid pharmacokinetics.
• Discuss potential etiological mechanisms responsible for the observed rates of alcohol and opioid use following bariatric surgery.
