Relling re-elected vice president of the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy

David Relling, P.T., Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences, was re-elected vice president on the board of directors for the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) on Oct. 26, 2019, at the Annual Delegate Assembly meeting of the FSBPT in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The FSBPT is an organization of P.T. licensure boards in the United States, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and Virgin Islands with a common mission of protecting the public. The FSBPT has multiple areas of focus, including the development of the National Physical Therapy Examination that is a requirement for licensure of all graduates from physical therapist and physical therapist assistant programs.

“I am very honored and humbled to be re-elected vice president on the board of directors for FSBPT,” said Relling. “The members, staff, and volunteers of FSBPT are exceptional individuals, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to achieve the organizational mission.”

Relling completed his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota, completed a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Kansas State University, and earned a Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of North Dakota. Relling teaches a number of courses in the areas of pathology, acute care, and cardiopulmonary physical therapy. He has served on many committees within the School of Medicine & Health Sciences and Department of Physical Therapy and on multiple professional organizations. Relling is currently a member of the North Dakota Board of Physical Therapy. His research interests include biomechanics, physical therapy workforce, and educational methods.
