Eric Curto to give Surgery Grand Rounds on cutaneous melanoma Feb. 7

Eric Curto, M.D., a PGY-II resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “Surgical management of cutaneous melanoma” at the VA Auditorium in Fargo, N.D., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The objectives of Dr. Curto’s talk are:

  • Identify and describe Breslow depth and its key features used for staging
  • Recognize the surgical principals for cutaneous melanoma and be able to justify and choose surgical margins with respect to tumor stage
  • Be able to summarize the different options and recommendations for a positive sentinel lymph node
  • Describe the surgical indications and principles for therapeutic lymph node dissection
