Lukas Mueller to give Grand Rounds talk on open abdominal surgery March 13

Lukas Mueller, M.D., a PGY-IV resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk titled “The Indications, the Management and the Complications of the Open Abdomen” at Sanford Medical Center Broadway in Fargo, N.D., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020. All are welcome to attend.

The objectives of Dr. Mueller’s talk are:

  • Describe the causes of acute compartment syndrome and the indications for the open abdomen
  • Discuss the impact of nutritional supplementation and which nutrition is desired
  • Describe the different techniques used to manage the open abdomen
  • Discern the implications of early fascial closure in the open abdomen state
