Mariah Laver Juanto presents Psychiatry Grand Rounds on de-escalation Aug. 19
Mariah Laver Juanto, Ph.D., will present “Verbal De-escalation of Agitated Patients” from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, for the latest UND Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science Grand Rounds event. This presentation will be held via Zoom/Video Conferencing. Dr. Laver Juanto is a psychologist at Sanford Health in Fargo N.D.
Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:
- Define coercive methods of managing agitated patients
- Describe two reasons for using verbal de-escalation strategies rather than coercive methods with agitated patients
- Describe the 10 key elements of effective verbal de-escalation and why each element is important
