Faculty Development: Navigating tough conversations in medical, health education on March 24

Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLAS) invites you to join us for the next faculty development session: “Navigating Difficult Conversations in Medical and Health Care Education,” on Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (CST).

Presented by Dr. Catherine Brissette and Michelle Montgomery, this session will be streamed on Zoom and recorded for later viewing.

Whether your focus is teaching, research, clinical, or all of the above, you’ve likely encountered difficult professional situations requiring well-thought, sometimes difficult communication. In medical and health sciences occupations, these conversations may need to occur with patients, colleagues, supervisors, or students. In this interactive session, we hope to help you gain insight into handling these difficult situations with professionalism and grace. We’ll work through multiple scenarios in small groups, sharing tips and techniques as we go.

This faculty development session is hosted by the Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLAS) unit of Education Resources and the Office of Education and Faculty Affairs. This series showcases topics of interest to the medical and health education community and is free and open to anyone. Previous sessions can be streamed at any time from our website.

If you have questions, would like more information, or would like to suggest a future meeting topic, please contact Adrienne Salentiny (adrienne.salentiny@UND.edu).
