Lejla Gasevic presents on decision-making for next Psychiatry Grand Rounds Oct. 19

For the next Psychiatry Grand Rounds, Lejla Gasevic, M.D., will present “Decision Making Capacity” from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022. This broadcast will be held via Zoom/video conferencing. Dr. Gasevic is a fourth-year resident in the Psychiatry Residency Training Program. Robert J. Olson, M.D., director of the Psychiatry Residency Training Program in the SMHS Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, and a psychiatrist at Sanford Health in Fargo, will serve as Dr. Gasevic’s discussant.

Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:

  • Compare and contrast terms “capacity” and “competence.”
  • Identify elements of capacity.
  • Become familiar with most common formal decision-making capacity tools.
  • Identify appropriate decision-making capacity consults.

This Grand Rounds presentation, sponsored by the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences and the School’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, is broadcast via video conference to many sites throughout North Dakota and Minnesota and is also streamed via personal computers.
