Medical students present at National Association of Medical Examiners annual meeting

Congratulations to the four UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences M.D. Class of 2025 students who presented at the 56th Annual Meeting of the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) in Dallas, Texas (Oct. 14 – 18, 2022). All four students listed below received a $250 student recognition award from the NAME Foundation for their presentations:

Courtney Hanson (Bismarck, N.D.) – Platform presentation: “Acute Organophosphate Poisoning Suicide Case Review with Consideration of Off-Gassing during Postmortem Examination.” Authors Courtney Hanson, Erin Batdorff (Regions Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn., USA), Lauren N. Huddle, Julia Kochanowski, Kevin D. Whaley.

Cole Rokke (Fargo, N.D.) – Poster presentation: “Devils in the Details: A Case Report of Amphipod Anthropophagy.” Authors Cole E. Rokke, Susan J. Roe.

Brailyn Weber (Fargo, N.D.) – Platform presentation: “Postmortem Tanning: An Unusual Postmortem Event.” Authors Brailyn Weber, Mary Ann Sens, Susan J. Roe.

Joel Zimmerman (Elk River, Minn.) – Platform presentation: “To Sleep, Perchance to Dream: A Case Report of Lethal Concentrations of Over-the-Counter Sleep Aids Diphenhydramine and Melatonin.” Authors Joel T. Zimmerman, Sara J. Schreiber (Office of the Medical Examiner, County Milwaukee, Wis.), Lauren N. Huddle.

As a requirement for the student presentations, each student has collaborated with the additional authors in the preparation of a manuscript to be submitted to The American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology.
