Kasey Johnson presents Psychiatry Grand Rounds on the social determinants of mental health Feb. 1

Dr. Kasey Johnson, a second-year resident in UND’s Psychiatry Residency Training Program, will present “Addressing the Social Determinants of Mental Health: Structural Competency, Health Equity, and Social Responsibility Training in Graduate Medical Education” from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023. Ciciley Littlewolf, M.D., is a Hospitalist at Sanford Health, Fargo, N.D., and will serve as Dr. Johnson’s discussant.

Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:

  1. Discuss social determinants of mental health.
  2. Define structural competency in relation to health equity and social responsibility in medical training and healthcare delivery.
  3. Provide a brief history of medicine in the U.S. and its role in addressing population health.
  4. Provide strategies for advancing structural competency in graduate medical education, training, and practice.

This Grand Rounds presentation, sponsored by the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences and the School’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, is broadcast via video conference to many sites throughout North Dakota and Minnesota and is also streamed via personal computers.
