Simulation Center hosts ‘Moulage Wars’

Last week, the SMHS Simulation Center held its annual training for Simulation In Motion – North Dakota (SIM-ND). As part of this training, the Sim Center team held its inaugural “Moulage Wars” competition. At this event, three teams, whose members represented Trinity Health in Minot, Sanford Health in Fargo, Essentia Health in Fargo/Bismarck, and Altru Health System in Grand Forks, competed to produce the “best” simulated health emergency scene. Each team was given 90 minutes to completely “moulage” (e.g., design with make-up and other effects) a specific medical scenario. This year’s scenario was an accident scene involving an amputation.

Twelve staff and student judges from across the SMHS evaluated the moulage and voted. The winning team was (from left to right in the attached photo):

  • Michelle Walde (Grand Forks/Altru)
  • Kyle Janssen (Fargo/Sanford)
  • Cliff Black (Minot/Trinity)
  • Paula Reitz (UND College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines)

Congratulations to the winning team and we hope you return next year to defend your crown!
