Lucy Chisler presents Psychiatry Grand Rounds on suicide and firearms May 3
Lucy Chisler, D.O., will present “Suicide and Firearms: A Discussion of Current Research and Recommendations” from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. This broadcast will be held via Zoom/Video Conferencing. Dr. Chisler is a third-year resident in the Psychiatry Residency Training Program. Julie Blehm, M.D., Sanford Health-Internal Medicine Residency and Simulation Teaching Faculty at UND School of Medicine, will serve as Dr. Chisler’s discussant.
Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:
- Identify the statistics regarding firearms and suicide risk.
- Summarize the evidence behind lethal means reduction: how that has been used with other means of suicide and how it can be applied to firearms.
- Apply what’s known about suicide and firearms to discussions with patients in the hospital and clinic.
This Grand Rounds presentation, sponsored by the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences and the School’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, is broadcast via videoconference to many sites throughout North Dakota and Minnesota and is also streamed via personal computers.
