Request for applications: Biomedical Research Pilot Grants 

The University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences (UND SMHS) is pleased to announce a new pilot grant program funded through the UND SMHS Dean’s office. The goal of the pilot program is to provide support to the most promising and novel biomedical research projects and help investigators obtain data necessary for successful investigator-initiated extramural grants. Successful applicants will receive up to $50,000 for a one-year project. For the purposes of this program, biomedical research includes basic, translational, epidemiologic, and/or clinical studies. Proposed projects can be submitted by faculty at the UND SMHS and/or at UND SMHS-affiliated institutions. If you have any questions regarding whether you and/or your biomedical research project is eligible for this program, you are encouraged to contact Kristina Olofsson at kristina.olofsson@UND.edu.

Eligibility

  • Proposals can be submitted by investigators who hold a faculty appointment at the UND SMHS.
  • The PI must be eligible to apply for NIH funds.
  • The biomedical research can be basic, translational, epidemiologic, and/or clinical.

Application Deadline: 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023

Earliest Funding Start Date: July 2023

Funds Available: Depending on funding and the merit of the proposals, we anticipate being able to fund at least two proposals up to $50,000 each.
