Next Internal Medicine Grand Rounds on clinical reasoning to be held Aug. 16

The next UND Department of Internal Medicine Grand Rounds event, “Becoming better decision-makers in medicine: developing a culture of truth-seeking and confident humility” will be presented by Laura Nichols, M.D., internist at Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D., and core faculty in the UND Internal Medicine Residency Program, via Zoom from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023.

Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:

  1. Recognize the burden of medical error and impetus for improvements in our diagnostic and therapeutic decision processes.
  2. Outline the Institute of Medicine objectives to improve diagnosis in medicine.
  3. Describe the role of culture in improving diagnosis and therapeutics in medicine and the systems and individual work needed to create cultural change.
  4. Assess diagnostic processes and develop tools and systematic approaches to improve individual and team diagnostic approaches.
