SMHS recognized by AAMC for ‘Bolstering the health care workforce through community engagement’

Late last month, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) published a document entitled “How Academic Medicine Serves Rural Communities Across the Country.” Given its focus on rural health training and delivery, the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences (SMHS) was included in the list of only six medical colleges identified for their success in growing the rural healthcare workforce.

Noting how the SMHS “tailors programs to benefit rural residents,” the brief story describes how the School “partners with the state of North Dakota on the RuralMed tuition forgiveness program” and has “successfully added a variety of rural-focused residencies and fellowships and increased medical student class size.”
