Medical students present at National Association of Medical Examiners annual meeting

Congratulations to the two SMHS medical students from the Class of 2026, and one medical student from the Class of 2025, who gave poster presentations at the 57th Annual Meeting of the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) in San Jose, Calif., in October.

  • Kajsa Anderson, Class of 2026 (Antelope, Mont.), presented “Having a Blast in the Boundary Waters and Ranges: Beware the Great Mimicker.” Authors: Kajsa A. Anderson, Lauren N. Huddle, Mary Ann Sens
  • Katrina Blommel, Class of 2025 (Freeport, Minn.), presented “A ‘Cereus’ Case of Vomiting and Diarrhea.” Authors: Katrina Blommel, Susan Roe, Lauren N. Huddle
  • Emilee Ohman, Class of 2026 (Grand Forks, N.D.), presented “‘Air’ on the Side of Caution: A Case Report of Pneumatosis Cystoides Intestinalis associated with Acute Necrotizing Pancreatitis.” Authors: Emilee Q. Ohman, Lauren N. Huddle

Ms. Anderson and Ms. Ohman each received the Beth Frost Early Achievement Award ($250) from the NAME Foundation for their presentations.

As a requirement for the student presentations, each student has collaborated with the additional authors in the preparation of a manuscript to be submitted to The American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology.
