Pack the Pantry campus challenge is Feb. 20 through March 6

The UND College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is kicking off the UND Pack the Pantry Campus Challenge, a friendly campus-wide competition to support UND’s Food for Thought Food Pantry from Feb. 20 to March 6!

Here’s how it works

  • Create your team: This is open to all UND groups on campus or online. Create your team here to compete! Enter as a whole college, department, unit, staff or faculty group, or student group. Or, create your own team comprised of anyone and any groups you choose.
  • Goal: Collect needed food pantry items from this list or work to raise monetary funds for the UND Food Pantry to earn points. Using the honor system, each team will track and report their points:
      • 1 item = 1 point
      • Or, $1 donated through online giving = 1 point
  • Prizes: The team with the most overall points wins the coveted Campus Challenge Overall Winner Traveling Trophy. (And trust us, it’s a beauty.) Teams that gather the most physical pantry items or report the most monetary donations will also receive certificates.

How to Participate

  1. Sign your team up! Let us know your team name and information using the sign-up form.
    1. Designate your team captain (who will serve as the challenge’s primary contact), organize your team to collect the physical food drive items, and will report team progress.
    2. If desired, your team can designate a team donation coordinator who can track and report online donations made to the food pantry. As there are no physical items collected, donation reporting procedures using an honor system can be determined by each team (one option could be an email or screenshot of a donation receipt emailed to the donation coordinator).
    3. Alternatively, the team captain can fulfill both of the roles if needed.
  2. Collect pantry items and/or encourage online donations between Feb. 20 and March 6: Each team gathers their donations independently. How you choose to do this is up to you! You can have your own collection boxes and can communicate with your departments, units, and student groups to participate. Visit the challenge website for information, communication templates you can use, and exact items the pantry requests.
  3. Track your progress: Earn one point for every item/dollar collected by your team. Share your progress in photos and post friendly challenges on social media! Tag other teams to get them in on the challenge fun.
  4. Submit totals: Using the honor system, report your in-progress point totals to the CNPD by end of day Feb. 27, and a final point total by end of day March 7 using the Challenge Report Tool.

The winners of the Campus Challenge will be announced on March 10! Awards will be presented, and group photos will be taken the week of March 17, following Spring Break. After the challenge, donations can be delivered directly to the UND Food for Thought Pantry at the Memorial Union during regular hours.

Need help with drop-off? UND College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines volunteers are happy to assist with collection and delivery!

Don’t forget to attend the CNPD’s Feeding Futures Presentation on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. on the Social Stairs at the Memorial Union.
