Kristine Steffen to discuss eating disorders and the gut microbiome at Psychiatry Grand Rounds on May 21
Kristine Steffen, Pharm.D., Ph.D., will present “Neurobiological Underpinnings of Eating Disorders & Obesity: Focus on the Microbiome” from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, via Zoom. Dr. Steffen is a professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at North Dakota State University, a research scientist at Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D., and a clinical assistant professor at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:
- Discuss the gut microbiome and its functions.
- Provide an overview of the gut-brain-axis concerning control of mood and feeding.
- Describe the microbiome and eating disorder literature.
- Review microbiome and bariatric surgery data.
