UND Physical Therapy students to offer free movement assessments @SMHS Dec. 2 and 4
Attention, SMHS students, staff, and faculty! The UND Department of Physical Therapy (PT) needs your help.
On Dec. 2 and 4, second-year PT students will offer free movement assessments, including the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
If you are willing to participate in this PT student educational session on a volunteer basis, you will be needed for one of the above dates from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The students need 9-10 volunteers for each date.
Visit Sign-Up Genius to register for a date/time.
At the screenings, volunteers will be paired with a group of second-year PT students and be taken through a series of standing, sitting, and laying movements to assess how well you are moving. Please remember to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and the shoes you would typically wear for exercise. Following the screening and assessment, the students will develop a short exercise program tailored to you to help improve your movement. Three Department of Physical Therapy faculty will be on-hand to observe and assist the students as necessary.
Learn more about what to expect through these videos on FMS screening and SFMA assessment, respectively.
