Erin Barrett to discuss dermatology essentials at Internal Medicine Grand Rounds on March 19

The next UND Department of Internal Medicine Grand Rounds event, “Dermatology Essentials for Primary Care and Hospital Medicine: Recognizing, Managing, and Referring Skin Conditions,” will be broadcast via Zoom from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.

This presentation features guest speaker Erin X. Barrett, M.D., associate professor of dermatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and director of inpatient dermatology at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Neb.

Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:

  1. Identify common dermatologic conditions in both primary care and hospital settings using key clinical features, optimal biopsy site selection, and appropriate diagnostic tools or scoring systems.
  2. Distinguish dermatologic emergencies from benign conditions and determine when timely intervention or specialty referral is required.
  3. Evaluate cutaneous manifestations of systemic diseases and implement evidence-based management strategies to optimize patient outcomes.
