Graphic medicine and Parkinson’s disease with cartoonist Peter Dunlap-Shohl on April 22

On Wednesday, April 22, UND’s Department of English and the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences present cartoonist Peter Dunlap-Shohl, who will offer a virtual lecture on his work as a practicing artist and writer living with Parkinson’s Disease.

Dunlap-Shohl worked as a cartoonist for the Anchorage Daily News for more than twenty-five years. His journey with Parkinson’s was recently featured in the PBS documentary Matter of Mind: My Parkinson’s and in his graphic memoir, My Degeneration: A Journey Through Parkinson’s,” is available through the UND Chester Fritz Library website.

Dunlap-Shohl writes about living with Parkinson’s on his blogs, Frozen Grin and Off & On: The Alaska Parkinson’s Rag.

The event will be moderated by Justin Wigard, assistant professor in the UND Department of English.
